Easy Fourth of July Banner Tutorial - Marty's Musings

This week I shared an easy but fun banner and tablescape in a Crafty Google Hangout on Air video. You can now see the under 10 minute video on my youtube channel.

American Craft sponsored our hangouts this month and supplied us with some amazing products.

I love scrapbooking and I love bling and American Craft provided me with both in the glitter and patterned cardstock they sent.

So here’s the scoop: cut out 9″ large stars with a die cutting machine (I used my Cricut and the Plantin Schoolbook Font.)

Art and Craft

Hole punch all the stars that will hang directly from the ribbon.

The bling cardstock was extremely heavy and produced a little bit of excess when I cut them. I simply went with that look and used the edge distresser around all the cardstock stars.

Art and Ribbon

Then glue the 6″ patterned stars to the 7 1/2″ solid cardstock ones.

Thread those stars through your glitter ribbon (more bling love!) and you are ready for the fun part!

For the center star add embellishments to spice it up a bit.

I love the combination of colors against our wooden fence in our back yard. Perfect for the July Fourth holiday!

You could easily use these same stars and add birthday or party embellishments to them to repurpose them for another occasion.

    1. Hi, Randi. How sweet of you to comment, and also to remember my branch candle centerpiece! We’ve redone our kitchen table so it will all look new this year! Have a great weekend!

  1. Marty, this banner looks wonderful on your fence…love it! Between ribbon, bling and scrapbooking, we both love similar things! Thanks so much for sharing this and pinning! Have a wonderful Sunday!

    1. Hey, Cindy! We do have a lot in common if you love scrapbooking and ribbon! I try to tone down my bling because I’m the only one who likes it, but it’s still there! I do love scrapbook paper, though. And ribbon, especially vintage ribbon. They make me happy! Have a great day!
