Easy Fall Home Decor
This post may contain affiliate links which won't change your price but will share some commission. Read more here.About this time every year I challenge myself to see how I can use my thrifted and repurposed yard sale finds to come up with easy fall home decor that doesn’t break the bank.
I scrounge around in my attic and start pulling my tubs of seasonal decor down to sort through.
This year I started with the Branch Candle Centerpiece that my DIY hubby made for me for our kitchen table (Pinterest inspired, of course).
Then I saw another Pinterest project that reminded me of this three tiered stand I had in the attic. I found several fall picks that I bought on sale at the end of fall one year, and I also used pinecones, acorns and the two scarecrows my oldest daughter made several years ago. I love it! Simple and thrifty. That’s my motto.
We don’t have a fireplace in our home so there is no lovely mantle to decorate. Instead this year I decorated our piano and treated it as if it were my mantle.
I used a strand of fall leaves, pine cones, Halloween ceramic votive holders, candles and a glass container filled with balls of yarn and string.
Everything you see here was bought at a fraction of the retail price, either at the end of the season or at yard sales.
The candle holders were used at my daughter’s wedding (spray painted for that event and used with glitter candles). For fall, I wrapped white candles in a piece of burlap, used ribbon I already had and tied it all with strings pulled from the burlap fabric.
Can’t forget the outside of our home! It all started when I didn’t have a fall wreath but instead made this Pinecone Door Arrangement.
We don’t have a porch or stairs that I can decorate. It’s more like a stoop, but my hubby pointed out that we could do something in the flower bed by the front door. (He’s ridiculously more creative than me, but I can steal his ideas 🙂
He bought a haybale at Lowe’s, and I bought two pumpkins at the grocery store for $3.50 each. I added the Happy Thanksgiving plaque. (I know. I’m early.) The marigolds were there over the summer but added a bright touch to the display. It’s simple and thrifty. (Heard that before?)
And lastly, I used a wooden tray bought at Goodwill ($2), some spray paint and scrapbook paper to make this pretty table arrangement in our den. The flowers were taken out of several bunches bought at a yard sale ($2).
Just some thrifty little touches to make our house warm and inviting for fall. What have you done at your house? Is this the year you went all out or the year when life overwhelmed you? I’d love for you to share your story with me.

These fence board pumpkins are just the cutest!
See what you can do with some old fabric and hand me downs!
Your decorations look fabulous! I really love the three tiered baskets. Thanks for linking this up to The Fun In Functional!
You’re welcome, Jessi. If you ever want to exchange posts on each other’s blogs let me know. I haven’t done that before, but I’m looking to grow and expand, and I know you are, too. Have a great weekend!
This looks great! I still need to decorate the outside of my house. I am hoping to get it done this weekend! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for linking back to my blog, Jacy. I always try to credit where I found an idea or a recipe. It’s only fair to the original one who did the project. So thank you and have a blessed day!
Everything looks so beautiful! Thanx for sharing at THT!
Thank you, Pamela! Glad you stopped by and visited.
Beautiful decorations and such fun ideas! You take amazing photos, by the way.
You’ve pulled it all together nicely! Those yarn balls look fab and I love the burlap candles. 🙂 Clever idea using the piano top in the place of a mantle.

Looks like fun to me! I’d definitely curl up on the couch with a blanket and a book….
Cute decor!
love the candles!
Thanks!
Your Fall decor is gorgeous! I’d like to invite you to share it at my linky party, Twirl & Take a Bow at http://www.houseontheway.com. I think it would make a great addition to the party.
Leslie
Thanks, Leslie! I’ll try to stop by and link up.
Your fall decor looks really great. I love that you treated the piano as a mantel. We don’t have a fireplace either, so I’m always a little jealous of the pretty mantel decor. I have one surface that I tried to decorate but my toddler pulled everything down (a hurricane full of dried beans and corn! yikes) so I’m reluctant to put anything there again for at least a couple of years.
Your toddler will grow up and then you can have pretty decor then! We are definitely in a different season of life but grand kids will be around in a few years so it will change again! Enjoy this time as a blessing for you and your kids!
Your decors looks fabulous. The best part was, it was not too expensive. That’s my kind of thing. I am glad I found another creative blogger. I love your blog 🙂

It all looks wonderful. I love those burlap wrapped candles too – they are a big hit in blogland! The piano looks beautiful as does your yard – how great the way the marigolds fit right in.
Thank you for the compliment on the yard, especially. I’m still getting used to it! I appreciate you visiting my blog!
I’m totally doing the candles today! Such cute Fall ideas!!!
The candles are so easy! I totally copied them from somewhere! Thanks for stopping by!
Wow.. I love your decorations. The candles are great but I especially love what you did with the front yard.
Thank you, Jo, for the sweet compliment. It’s the first time we’ve ever decorated the flower bed beside the front door so I wasn’t sure how I’d like it. We just don’t have room to do more, but I like how it turned out. I hope you’ll stop by and visit again soon!
I love all of your Fall decor ideas and vignettes…I have that scrapbook paper…I need to drag it out and do something creative like you did…love the tray!!!….
I have enough scrapbook paper for you, me and all the rest of the ladies from this weekend! Here’s a shot of my paper: https://www.martysmusings.net/2012/07/scrapbook-room-paper-storage.html Now that I’m blogging more I’m creating less. There’s something just not right about that!
That’s exactly what I did, dig through my attic. Thrifty is smart and fun if you work at it!
Love the decor ideas! The candles and burlap are a great idea, and I also love your use of pine cones and leaves on the piano! I found you through Monday’s Musings! 🙂
Thank you for stopping by my blog. I just love fall and am glad I could share it! Nothing too fancy, very easy and very inexpensive! Love it!
Great ideas. I especially like your wrapped candles. Thanks for the inspiration. Bless you, Gail (Bible Love Notes)
Thanks, Gail, for stopping by again. I’m enjoying burlap this season: how inexpensive it is and what I can do with it!
Such cute ideas! Love the bright colors — you did such a great job on these, especially love the candles wrapped in burlap. You don’t have to spend a ton of money to have a lovely, festive home, do you? Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the sweet comment, Lauren. The more I look at the candles, the more I like them! Burlap is my new best friend and it’s so inexpensive! Hope you’ll come back and visit again.
I love your decorations and I’m all about budget! I’m your newest fan!
I’m glad you like them, Sarah, and I appreciate your stopping by to leave a comment! Have a blessed day!
Hi! found you thru Sew Chatty party – the whites and neutrals look really nice. I may incorporate that color next year! Have a great day!
Thank you for visiting, JoAnn. I like the whites and browns, too! I also like brown and red but that’s a different room!
What awesome fall vignettes! You really have an eye for putting items together! Mine always seem to look like a mismatched hodge podge. Beautiful job!
Thank you so much for the compliment! I’m learning a lot more about decorating so I’m grateful someone likes it! Now to convince my family……..Have a blessed day!
I love the candles wrapped in burlap!! I just saw some like these at pottery barn, cute! Visiting from Mix it Mondays!

All of your decorations look great. The tray looks wonderful. I’ve done the same thing with candles — have wrapped burlap, ribbon, scrapbook paper, & twine around them & each gives such a different look.
Thank you so much for the nice comment. Sometimes I look at my own decor and wonder if it’s pretty or not! It’s hard looking at your own stuff, but it’s good to stretch yourself. Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you’ll come back!
I found your blog through Frugal Friday! Your fall decorating is beautiful! I especially love the idea of wrapping the candles with burlap…so cute!
Thank you for stopping by, Katie. I love decorating cheaply! I don’t have it down pat yet but I’m learning to mix and match and be creative! Hope you’ll visiting me again!
All those decorations are lovely…loved the idea of making use of Piano as mantle…Decorating front near the flower bed,yet another creative idea…
Thank you so much! Yes, no mantel so I improvised. Thanks for your sweet comments!
