Welcome to my Kitchen Tour featuring all of my small kitchen ideas. A virtual tour at least.

Which means I don’t have to shove all the dirty clothes in the closet or scrub the countertops or wash any more dishes.

Y’all just sit back, relax and enjoy all these pics of a clean house.

Never mind that they weren’t all taken at the same time or that I had to walk around with a tub for all the everyday messes.

Or that I went from room to room loading and unloading the “stuff” that encompasses real life.

So let’s just pretend it’s all still clean. k?

Come on in and set a spell, ‘ya hear?

I don’t really talk like that (well, I do say y’all a lot), but I hope you’ll find my kitchen a welcoming spot after a hard day’s work.

Our family eats together every.single.night. It’s just one of those traditions we hold dear

The flowers and mason jars in the centerpiece make me happy.

Sometimes we merely look at each other through tired, glazed eyes, and other times there’s a lively discussion to be heard.

Either way, this is one priority that we hold sacred. It may not always be home cooking, but we share it together.

How to Make a Chalk Kitchen Message Board

In updating our kitchen we took an old, scarred up table with great memories and turned it into this painted beauty.

You can see a little bit of my  former recovering plate addiction here.

I dearly loved my teapot and tea set collections but in the desire to update I only saved a few for display. (The rest are still in the attic. Don’t tell anyone, k?)

I’ve mixed in vintage family plates with yard sale bargains on this above door shelf.

I spray painted these mats to match the kitchen and again mixed in various styles of teacups and saucers.

Here is my mother’s wedding china, a 16 piece setting that is one of my most cherished possessions.

This little decorative jar with cheerful flowers was my inspiration for our kitchen makeover, and I still love it today!

Yet another project with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Could you guess it hides the dog food?

Aren’t these details amazing?

Several years ago my husband surprised me with this framed picture below. I was an avid collector of everything “tea”: teapots, tea sets, cups and saucers. I even had a wallpaper border with teapots on it. This particular birthday my husband contacted the artist and bought the print, had it framed and hit it under the sofa to surprise me. Still beautiful to me today.

The four cross stitch teacups were stitched for me before my sister passed away in 2000. This arrangement may not go with the rest of my more rustic decor but the memories surrounding them bring such joy.

These shabby chic chairs were a brilliant repurposing project by my husband.

Another reminder of our strong family bond is this old window photo frame

The other end of our kitchen is not completed but I will share the fence board backsplash my DIY hubby came up with. Love the beach cottage feel it brings to the kitchen!

How about whimsical canisters? Just more of the little details that are so inviting.

    1. Hi, Paula. You’re so sweet. I’m so glad you like my kitchen! I’ve scaled back on the teacups and teapots, which is probably a good thing! I used to display a ton of them!

    1. Thanks, Kelly. I didn’t know it until now but those are such fun colors for me! This whole room just completely evolved one project at a time, and it was fun seeing it take shape.

  3. Marty, that teacup art is a treasure!!! It is just where it belongs. You know I luv that mason jar chandy. Just the cutest things! We should fix up my fence board counter, and your fence board back splash. hehe

  4. Marty, your kitchen is just wonderful! I dearly love your colors – blue and yellow will always be one of my fave combos. I really loved getting a closer look at all of the details. And your moms china? It is absolutely gorgeous and what a treasure too! I used to collect teapots too and still have some tucked away in a cabinet. Remember the little mini teasets that were all the rage for a while? I had a jillion of them.

    1. I knew you’d like the china, Suzy. I’m very sentimental about it and I just love the vintage pattern. Mixing my china with hers and yard sale items has been such fun. I love not being matchy matchy! And yes, I still have most of my mini teasets up in the attic. I’m afraid my kids won’t want very many of them. We should have a yard sale 🙂

  5. Beautiful job on your kitchen! I love the color combination the yellow is so inviting and happy! Your chandelier is fantastic 🙂

    1. Elizabeth, thank you so much. I have loved using the blue and yellow and my hubby did an amazing job on the chandelier. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Such a bright and pretty kitchen! LOVE the blue/yellow and white! I think it is my all time favorite combo! My favorite part of your kitchen… that wonderful backsplash… the chandy… and your painted cabinet! All so creative!

  7. OK, seriously. Your kitchen is adorable! I love how perfectly you’ve kept to your color scheme. The whole thing is like something out of a fairy tale for me!

  8. Your kitchen is just wonderful. It looks like a real place where people gather and love each other. That’s my favorite kind of kitchen!

  9. Oh I dearly love this post. I love you keep it real. My Mom had the same philosphy about dinner at 6pm on the dot and ALL were expected to be there.
Is that a Sandy Clough print your loving husband bought you? I have been in the Sandy’s Tea Society for 11 years. I am a huge fan of her work, and her loving kind gracious Christian soul. She’s awesome.

Your stitched teacups from your sister – priceless heirloom and looks great anywhere!

I too have a lifetime of teacups and teapots – and used – but all stored when not using. I never used it as decor, really but sure love a pretty tea party tablescape.

In celebration of All Things Kitchen this week I actually shared my kitchen for the first time. You see, it’s all contageous! : – )
Have a wonderful weekend with that awesome family of yours in your wonderful fun kitchen.
    ~Michele

    1. Hi, Michele. It is indeed a Sandy Lynam Clough print. I haven’t kept up with her in years but this picture is still a favorite of mine. Her work is amazing. Thanks for stopping by!

  10. Marty to say your kitchen makes me smile is an understatement. I love the cheerfulness of the yellow, white and blue, it brings a smile to my face every time!
Thank you for giving such a lovely tour and inviting us into your world,

  11. I love how colorful and happy your kitchen area is. The yellows with the blues just makes you want to settle in and snack or visit. Your mom’s wedding china, wow…that is AMAZING. I also love your blue canisters, they are such a wonderful pop of color.

  12. As I told the other ladies…I am getting around to as many kitchens as I can now that I’m back in school. I LOVE blue and yellow as a color combination–they bring such a happy feeling!

  13. I love the kitchen and dining room. I love when you put all the individual posts in one post. Especially when there are so many projects I’d like to try. I can find things so much easier! Thank you……
