Pinecone Door Arrangement

What do you have on your front door? I have a few cutesy seasonal things but nothing to get excited about. I saw this cluster/wreath on Pinterest and decided I could make this pinecone door arrangement myself!
I bought the wooden initial W from a craft store (with my 50% coupon, of course, and and extra 15% off for teachers), and it cost less than $1. I also had the gold spray paint on hand.
The hardest part? Finding the pinecones. I searched all over the neighborhood and even sent my kids out looking for them. Could only find six that were relatively the same size. Who would believe the pinecone is NC’s state tree?
The striped glitter ribbon was from my stash (see my scrapbook room post for more of my obsession collection).
The brown ribbon was taken off the programs we had left over from my daughter’s wedding.
I used a mini glue gun to attach the pine cones to the ribbon and the ribbon to the monogram.
I love this simple project and it makes me happy when I come through the front door.

I’ve been on the lookout for large pinecones in our area–we too are in NC!–but so far I’ve only found one extra-large one. Lots and lots of little ones!
Two weeks ago I couldn’t find the pinecones and now they’re everywhere! Don’t you love NC in the fall?

Thanks so much, Christina!
I really like this! Our last name starts with an O and it looks… odd to have a monogram O inside a round wreath. I will have to try this out. Thanks for the great Idea.
Marty! What a stunning arrangement! Love it. Thanks so much for leaving me a comment on my little chalkboar placecards. That made my day. I am off to pin your pinecones now. xoxo Malia

Cute, I really must try do this, Pine cones are all over our neighborhood 🙂
I really love that pine cone door arrangement! I have a bunch of ribbon and a bunch of pine cones that need to be used, and now I know what to do with them. Great job!
I’m with you, done with summer and so glad for Fall! Your door arrangement came out so pretty! I also like it’s not the traditional round or square shape. I found a show bag of pinecones last year at GW, so now I have plenty to use. Very pretty wreath! To answer your question I don’t have anything on my front door, got to get moving! Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration with Sunday’s Best – you helped make the party a success!
Thanks for stopping by! For some reason I can’t ever figure out what I want for the front door so I did something different. Yeah for Pinterest ideas!
Love your project and can think of all kinds of ways to personalize it! Now I am excited to start my projects for winter!
thanks for posting. Found you on Inspire me monday blog hop

We’re having cooler weather and it makes me so excited for fall, my favorite season!
I love the pinecones and I love that it isn’t just a wreath! Thanks!
Can you believe I had trouble finding pinecones? I refuse to pay for nature! Have a great day!
I love that this is outside of the traditional round wreath for the door. So cute! I too need to go look for pinecones but thus far the only ones I have found are pretty old.
If you get a chance I would love for you to come link up your tutorial at my Fall Edition Pin Party.

Love it!
I’m trying to pretend it’s still summer. Haven’t wanted to think about Fall Decorating yet. 🙂
Our “summer” weather up here in the Pacific NW really runs from July thru September. So, we enjoy the sunshine whenever we can get it.
Loving your “new” blog.
Laurel 🙂
I’m done with summer and ready for fall! It’s my favorite season of the year. Pull out the sweaters and let’s go!
